What is going on with my Chalice?

I just noticed one of my Chalice colony's is dieing from the middle out. One of the mouths is completely gone and the tissue all around it is loose from the skeleton. Plus a few other eyes are dieing. Should I start making frags of the good parts or maybe do a Melafix or Revive dip? All params are good. But I just got this colony 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen it eat yet.

I am not 100% sure but it sound like it was wild when brought in maybe it didnt take the change well. Who did you buy it from?

It is wild, I got it off of Ebay.

My guess would be it was just imported put on ebay and then sold to you. So roughly three or more tanks in three weeks thats allot of stress. You figure it went in a holding tank when picked up shipped over to a hole salers tank. Then the company now you all pretty fast it just might of over stressed it. I would put it in the shade or frag it.

fragging it will put it more under stress, i would give it a week and see if worsens/improves. if it continues to get worse and worse i would frag it but not before giving it some time to adjust. btw sweet peice

oh man! I feel your pain!
Ive lost a lot of chalice colonies that way too.
By the look of the coral, its not receeding slowly but the skin is pealing off.
First thing I'll do is to move it to where its almost no flow, if left in strong flow area, the whole skin will blow off.
when you see the skin finally stop pealing, then you should decide if your going to frag it or not.

OK I think I am going to move it to an area with less flow and light and see what happens.

yes, good decision!
At this time, lugol dip and all the other trick don't help.
wait until you see the skin that's already pealing to blow off, when it stops, then go on with the dipping.

I wouldn't blow off the skin it will only irritate it more i think thats a very bad idea. As fare as dipping it any time soon i think thats and even worse thing to do i dont think many chalices like to be dipped at all, Most hate it IMO i think dipping it any time soon will only stress it out more.
