Hi R2R,

RSR 350, well established, nearly 3 years. I have not been without trouble w parameters but of late all params have been steady and most corals seem to be doing well and growing. Curiously, the Zoas on this rock have almost completely disappeared, virtually overnight. There also has been some spontaneous death of the adjacent bird's nest which had been thriving w full polyp extension seems to be bleaching. My params are: Alk 7.0, Phos .08, Nitrates 13.0 calcium 485, Mg 1225. Temp is 77 and pH is 8.35. Just don't want to see these isolated coral deaths(?) spread.

Any ideas?

Alk is on the lower end but should be ok. Im not well versed in the correlation of that high of calcium and lower magnesium or if it matters. Have you ran any carbon or sent an icp in to rule out any contaminates?

Hi I run carbon in a reactor. I've sent the water for ICP and there doe not seem to be anything out of whack.

Nope nothing like that We are very careful. It sad b/c the zoa colony started w maybe 2 or 3 heads and was about 10-15. The birds nest I know are finicky but I am trying everything. Feeding more as well, I suspect maybe the corals are starving??

P04 .08 and no3 13 they shouldn't be starving. Maybe someone could chime in on the dkh 7.0 cal 485 mag 1225. That may be fine and no issue it just seems high and low to me but I don't know.

Looks like a product of low alk, possible high Calcium and mine do best at lower third of tank off the sand which can irritate them. They favor low light high in blues
