He always hides ni his cave and tonight I saw him out in the open. He's kind of huffing and puffing and I'm a little worried about him. Noticed this mark on his face too. Thoughts?

it almost looks like an injury. Can you give us some back ground on him? How long have you had him, was he qt'd, how old is your dt, and what kind of tank mates does he have with him?

+1 An injury, or coral sting. It does look almost perfectly round like from an anemone tentacle or Euphyllia sweeper.

Tank is 2 months old, he is 1 month in the tank. Tank mates include 2 clowns and a royal gramma, and 2 hermit crabs. I have an assorted amount of LPS and soft frags in there. I did not Qt him, the LFS I received him from is pretty well respected so I didn't go through the extra effort.
It was really strange, he always hides in his cave, especially at night. When I found him like this, he was in the corner of the tank and the two clowns where basically laying on top of him, it was weird. Today he's been in his cave all day and didn't come out to eat. He's still alive but mouth is gapping.

Has the spot changed at all today? Are you able to get him out and into QT? I"m not saying to do that just yet, just wanting to know if it's possible.

Still hiding, though the hermit crabs are surrounding his area. Is that bad?

They do that if they smell food. Unless you squirted some food into his cave that he didn't eat, then It's not good. They are like vultures.... scavengers.

Haven't seen my goby for 2 days, thinking he's dead. I dug around the tank for him, can't find him. Is his dead body going to really mess with a newer tank?

If he is dead he can give off ammonia. Also what size is your tank?

I dont think that one goby is going to make a big impact on your tank. The CUC will probably dispose of the evidence as well.
