What is the best overflow type?

I mean your options are internal and external, and both do the same job in terms of waste export.

The overflow itself doesn’t do anything special in terms of waste export; it’s just a place for water to drain out. As long as you have the proper size one, it shouldn’t matter.

But do avoid Hang on Overflows
Why avoid them? A properly designed hang-on is safe.

How do you define safe?

Regularly clogged aqualifter pump? The subsequent hyposainity from ATO dumping into sump until there’s no top-off water left? Or the flooded room that inevitably comes from that at least several times per-year?
