Not really a tang person, but I was involved in the moving of a 450 gallon tank that had a full grown sailfin tang. This guy had to be a foot and a half long, and slightly taller when it's fins were fully expanded. I think it was the size and grace of swimming that made this guy so attractive. So big that the 450 looked too small for him. This isn't the actual fish; just a stock photo:

That is a picture of a young sailfin. Full grown the portion of the fins to body is a little less but not much. I keep one in my early reef career and he just out grew my tank. Too hard to relocate him so I never get another. No Naso for me, or one of the larger ones like Dussumieri or even a Scopa. I try to stick with 10 inches max in the wild. Then they are more comfortable in our captive reef.

The kid in me says the powder blue, the adult says the Achilles.

No other fish have the quality of color that Acanthurus tangs have IME. They are so vibrant and yet also matte, whereas most other vibrant fish have a kind of metallic shine to them. It’s very special.

Edit- the Chaetodontoplus angels have a matte quality to them too, which to me makes even their usually brown body color beautiful.

Had a Whitetail Bristletooth and almost looked purple. Gorgeous tang. My favorites would be Blonde Naso and PBT tang as they look velvety and almost painted. Oh and the Pyroferus. Absolutely striking as an adult.
