I see what looks like a gash from either injury or even strike from a fish such as a tangjust noticed my clownfish has a weird thing attached to him. Is he just taking a dump?![]()
i think that is just its fin at a weird angleI see what looks like a gash from either injury or even strike from a fish such as a tang
Yeah nothing would be bothering that i am aware of, i have another clownfish and some pj cardinals. No tangs.i think that is just its fin at a weird angle
I am currently working on getting some brine shrimp to feed all my fish but i am feeding my clownfish pellets at the moment.white stringy poop. What are you feeding the clownfish right now? A lot of times it has to do with diet
Oh yeah-i think that is just its fin at a weird angle
I’ve had them a few months now, they have been acting fine and this is the first instance of it I have noticed. How long have you had them? Pellets should be fine to feed and usually wont cause the stringy poop. I would recommend a diet with more variety using some LRS frozen food like reef renzy, instead of just brine shrimp
To touch on Dedragons reply, It is excess mucus in the belly of fish and often generated with foods high in fat such as Mysis shrimp or other fatty types. Often changing the diet adding flakes, and food such as marine cuisine or LRS nano frenzy will change both color and consistency.just noticed my clownfish has a weird thing attached to him. Im with vette, i think it is just diet. Off chance it could be some internal problems but as long as they are eating well I would just change up diet and see how it goes from there
gotcha, just to clear up this isn’t harmful or anything right? I’m planning on doing a water change soon, should I dose prazipro just in case?To touch on Dedragons reply, It is excess mucus in the belly of fish and often generated with foods high in fat such as Mysis shrimp or other fatty types. At times, approaching the fish with a net will cause it to take off and the poop falls off
Cool, im probably just paranoid it seems to be acting fine besides this one thing.I wouldnt do that unless the fish seems distressed or wasnt eating. I think the treatment for them in case of internal problems is metro (i think api general cure has in it), not sure though as I havent needed to treat for internal parasites. Vette prob knows more about that than me
No treatment warranted or necessary. Its merely sticky fecesgotcha, just to clear up this isn’t harmful or anything right? I’m planning on doing a water change soon, should I dose prazipro just in case?
