what is this red brown stuff

I was able to shred it up last night and it seemed to just come apart one day layer and its back any idea what it may be.it does not seem to be a sponge

Hard to tell from the pic on my phone, but cyano would be my guess.

Hmmm I haven't had cyano in a good while so I can't remember exactly what the texture was, but I would consider it sort of silky. Mine would come off in sheets when i sucked it up. If it is coming back over night then it's gotta be cyano, you can almost watch that stuff grow haha:)

No it does not blow away that is what weird. The only way to break it up is to scrap it. It is also in a high flow area

Looks like red coralline or red algae. I got it all over my 90g.

+1 on the red algae I just got some I my tank and it looks just like that and is a pain to get off [emoji35] I usually try to ease up and feed every 2 days and seems to do the trick for me.

Its Cyano. You can grab an edge of it and that stuff will kinda peel off.
