I have these red fuzzy dots that are very slow to spread. A Small clump started 5 or 6 months ago, now on every rock, and may have spread to the glass. The tank is 8 months old. It did not react to the chemi clean treatment I performed to get rid of another issue. I have no real issues with it, I am just wondering what it is. It cannot be blown off with a baster, pulled off, or brushed off with a toothbrush. It does not seem to clump up much and just remains red, very short, maybe fuzzy dots. It does not seem to grow in the shady spots or the sand. My turbos eat some of it but don't focus on it.

parameters 90g

SG - 1.026
Nitrate - 10+ average (Cant keep it down)
Phos - .03 (I have to dose to maintain .03)
alk - 8.8
PH - 7.8 average
calcium - 450
mag - 1350
temp - 77.8

Ya, I saw there was no reaction to it... Hmmm.

I don't think it's an algae. Might be some sort of bacteria?

Thanks. That's why I posted, to get some clarity on whether it is a good or bad thing or how to treat. I took some rock to my LFS and they could not identify it either. All my rock was dry rock when I started the tank too if that matters. Marco rocks is what I used I think.

I hope it's not Blue Clove Polyps but if it doesn't blow off and has some structure to it, it likely is and you're in for a bit of a battle. There are several posts here about ways to eradicate.

Are those corals? I don't think these are coral. This is either bacteria or algae.

I'm starting to get those red spots as well on some of my rock. Came back to the thread to see if there's been any further action.

Bump.

I looks like red coralline or another similar algae. I have it in my tank and love it. Mine is deeper red though, and encrusting in circles instead of lines. But there are many many types of coralline algae.

That’s what I’m thinking mine is too. What’s weird is it’s only appearing where I grouted my rock together.
