So...what is that green looking plant thing coming out of the live rock? good or bad? keep or try to put it out?

Blue light should kill it. They like yellow natural sun light. They do spread pretty quickly in the right environment and compete for the calcium your corals want. I would try get rid of it.

Grows at least "well enough" under 20k halides - not aware of any negative issues with it - grow it! :)

I have had a few in my tank for a long time they don't spread to fast in my set up. I think they are kind of cool and a lot easier to deal with than nuisance algae.
