What is this ?

friend of mine gave me a green mushroom coral. It has some thing going off of it. What is it and should I be worried ?

It's an Aiptasia, I avoid introducing Aiptasia to my tank. If a frag or rock has Aiptasia on it, that piece does not go in my tank.

You can using boiling water targeted at the anemone or a kalk paste to treat, but I have found those methods fail long term.

It's a type of nuisance anemone that spreads very quickly once introduced to the tank. Don't let it invade your aquarium, get rid of it now.
