Photographed this on a dive this morning (Caribbean). It looks like some type of LPS coral but I have never seen anything like it previously. Any ideas what it might be?

Very interesting coral. I've never seen one like it either. How deep was it?

I have dove exclusively in the Caribbean, have never seen that before, Very cool find.... Spear any Lionfish while down?

Looks kinda like a mycetophyllia

I probably haven't dove there nearly as much as you (about 130 dives) but I've never seen anything like that. Seen quite a few lion fish but didn't know visitors were allowed to spear them! Had lion fish tacos last night at a local eatery.

It really doesn't look like any kind of brain coral to me but that makes a lot of sense. It actually looks more like a black and white trachy or something similar.

Here is a mycetophyllia that has similar characteristics of the one you spotted.

I believe you nailed it! Have to give credit to my wife because she's the one who spotted it and recognized it was something unusual. Thank you so much!
