I had a royal gramma for about a month. The first few weeks she seemed fine except She hid alot and I noticed white spot at base of tail fin that was only there for a day or two. I thought maybe from hiding in the rock. Then the tail fin became ragged and quickly was gone and she became lethargic and died. I have 2 clowns that were in there first and have been great. Here are some pics. They aren't very good. In the last one her tail was getting ragged. Any thoughts on what this is?

Potentially fin rot? You can treat in the tank with kanaplex mixed with focus in food.

Has your tank cycled properly and are you checking the ammonia and Nitrate levels?
I find that Royal Grammas are very hardy in some areas but do not do well when the water chemistry goes bad. Clown fish on the other hand can handle it for a lot longer before they start to show signs.

I started tank on April 22 and checked temp ph sg. ammonia nitrite and nitrate everyday for the first 2 months and everything has been good. I still test everything once or twice a week. Ammonia and nitrite is always 0 and nitrate is 5. I use red sea test kit. I am going to have lfs test everything also just to be sure.
