what is your water bill?

I am about $120 month for sewer and water in houston. Just FYI to those of you that want to add an "irrigation" meter to off set the amount of money used. I owned an Irrigation company for years.
A) For a home, unless you have a very large system 300gal + it is probably not worth the extra cost.
B) It is against code for you to use your irrigation meter for anything other than..........thats right! IRRIGATION. Now, that being said is the city guy going to come around your house and fine you? Probably not. But I did have a LFS ask me to install one for this very reason while we were redoing their landscaping and I was told by the city that was a BIG no no.
Just something to think about.....

Mine runs about 160 a month for both which to me in my region seems crazy high. I quite using RO/Di about 2 months ago and am only using DI so we will see on my next statement ( we are billed every other month) if that had any effect-I only do about a 100 gallon water change per month if that and top off might be on the high side 10 gallons a week. I like the idea of turning off all the water( I assume at the main??) and seeing if the meter is spinning-That'll be on my list for today

I pay a flat rate of $25 a month, regardless of usage.

I will in WI also in the southeast and they just raised water prices because our county gets water from the city. It went up this year from last but not too bad. $78 average, but haven't started watering outside yet. Have two tanks, 75 and 210, that are on R/O, but I have pressure shut off value on R/O so it doesn't run all day.

I had a pet store in a local municipality in Wisconsin and the water bill was unbelievable. Because of the water quality I got out of the pipes I had to run all my water through a RO system that ran 24/7. I was using roughly 2,500 gallons per month for my tanks but do to the waste you get with the RO system it was not unusual for me to hit 10,000 gallons in a month. Because I was considered a high water user they put me on a monthly billing rather than on a quarterly billing. I do not remember seeing a monthly bill of under $500.00 but the highest bills were in the winter months when I was also fighting high evaporation rates in my tanks. I remember hitting a bill for February water usage that hit a couple pennies under $800.00.
For me this was a shocker to my business plan. The big reason was that I had roughly as many tanks at my home prior from my hobby. Yes I did not change as much water as often but I was on a well and did not pay anything for a water bill or sewage. But remember drilling a well and having a septic system is a big initial outlay as well.
So dependent upon how much water you use the $10,000+ outlay will take a long time to recover from by your water usage saving to the municipality.

$170 this month, $120 last month. Both at the middle of three sliding rates, winter rates are $1.00 per 100 cu ft lower and peak summer is .40 per 100 cu ft higher. Thats in Phoenix AZ and includes water, sewer, solid waste and recycling. The water and sewer made up about $100 of this months bill, about 27,000 gallons consumed and my RO/DI usage makes up about $7-$8 of that total. Thats for a 4 bedroom home, grass lawns front and rear, lots of trees, roses and shrubbery, a 20,000 gallon in ground pool and evaporative cooling of the house for another few weeks until the humidity goes up and the cooler goes off and the heat pump comes on!

My water bill has no reflection on my aquarium. I get all of my RO water free from The Shark Reef. A local Saltwater store in Bremerton, Wa. But I was thinking that there might be a simple solution to your water issue if it just went up without any reason. When my water bill did that, it turned out that i had an underground leak. I had to call this special leak finder to come out and find it, then I had to call a plumber and tell him where it is so they could fix it.

Our toilets run every so often but there are no actual leaks in the system.
So by the look of a lot of your responses I think it's safe to say I am in the upper end for sure but not the worst. But like I said it's the one bill I get that really feels excessive.

How is everyone's so low?! I live in northern MN and my bill each month for water sewer and gas is around $150 in the summer with no gas being used and around $265 in the winter months with the heat on
