Had a red mushroom that slowly melted away not sure why. At first it did poorly once introduced to my tank. I learned they don't like a lot of light or current so I moved it to a corner with low light and current. It did great for a week then started shriveling up again. My water was always great. Dosing aminos didn't help. After it completely melted away I learned some corals can release chemicals into the water. It was about six inches away from a small hydnophora frag on one side and my GSP on the other. Both of them are doing very well. I know that hydnophoras have sweepers but never saw them come out and they usually stay latched on to what they sting for a long time. I can't find anything that specifically says any of these corals release chemicals into the water though. Does anyone have any ideas on what melted my mushroom? I'm afraid to get more mushrooms until I figure this out.
