Sorry i dont know which section this kinda post belongs to.

But what are these things in my sump? Have not noticed them before.
When i turned off my return pump, and my sump water rise. Then i saw them. Either they are not from the water or maybe they live on the water surface. Im not sure.
There like billions of tiny things. They break and reconnect themselves.

Thanks.

Looks bacterial and suggests you have Very little flow in the sump area. You can siphon up and sponge wipe glass and see if they return and how soon.

Do you dose carbon? Looks like a bacterial clump
I dont dose carbon. So, are they bad?

U suggesting me to clean and remove them, which means they are bad i guess.

When the sump is running, i cant even see them on the glass and not even on the water surface, but when the sump stopped after 5 mins, i can see them forming up at the top just below the surface.

After 5 mins sump stopped flowing.

I will clean the glass later. But they dont seem to be living on the glass surface.

These don't look like bacteria at all. More like a huge amount of tiny worms. You don't own a microscope by chance?

Unfortunately, i dont own a microscope.
They do look like very tiny worms. So i thought they are some kind of maggots. Lol.

Upon looking at video, these may be detritus worms which is Not unusual to congregate in a sump however its rare they colonize like this not to say they cant. If bacterial, comes from froth from overflow pipes in same manner slime comes off a skimmer.

I siphon lots of them earlier today. They are brown in color. Maybe u're right about them being detritus worms.

So, uh. Should i kill em all? Or most of them.

These are masses - wow. Siphon all up. While not of harm grow large in numbers and is a sign of available food source, need for maintenance and follow up.

I have seen these before on another thread here on r2r.
Let me look.

Here it is @synthetix21

Thread 'Sudden single spidery algae monster' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sudden-single-spidery-algae-monster.892381/

And another with the ID.

Thread 'ID and help please?' https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/id-and-help-please.866458/
Labyrinthula huh? I'm surprised there are single cell organisms that are so big and fast, you can observe them move around with naked eyes.

Wow. Thanks for the inputs guys. I've dumped lots of them to the drain when i siphoned them up earlier today. But i still see some thin layer of them on the sump glass. Guess this time i'll just let them live for a while to see what they will become. :anguished-face:
