There are a lot of different types. Most likely you are thinking of a peacock mantis.
Some are specialized for eating fish (spearer mantis) and are safer for inverts.
Others, like the peacock, are designed to break the shells of inverts (smasher mantis).
Size also plays a big role, you won’t find much that isn’t a food option for a 6-8 inch peacock, but the 2-3 inch wennerae mantis may have better luck.
At the end of the day, these animals are specialized for killing and are best kept on their own.
A 100 offers plenty of escape room, but it’s still really a matter of time before all inverts are tracked down and killed.

Haha pretty sure a mantis and bobbit would still duke it out.

I don’t think any invert is totally safe with a smasher. They will punch things out of curiosity even.

Small fast fish like damsels can sometimes live with mantis but better to add them before the mantis. Otherwise he may think you brought snacks.

Yep haha
At that point you might as well get a geography snail.
(joke: never ever even consider getting a geography snail)

why not the snails lol
They have the most toxic venom in the entire animal kingdom. There's no antivenom. Their nickname is the cigarette snail because the story goes you'll only have enough time to smoke a cigarette before you die. its an exaggeration but still.

I don’t have a ton of pics of mine but , he hasn’t attacked anything that I know of yet. Gets mysis everyday during feeding and will come out for it like a fish lol , the turkey baster signals feeding time. I’ve recently started using a feeding station for CBB and they all gather around it , mantis shrimp isn’t aggressive even next to the arrow crab / blenny / hermit crab / snails ect.. my dottyback will even push it sometimes. I think the constant feeding and turkey baster training has made the mantis docile . I don’t hear clicking anymore

I've heard that starfish and sea cucumbers are safe with mantis shrimp (most things don't eat starfish or even bother cukes).

You'd probably want to do brittle or serpent stars if you went with a starfish, though, as other stars don't do well in most aquaria. Sea cucumbers have some special considerations you'd want to keep in mind, but from what I've heard, they're generally not bad as long you're prepared to handle them properly.
