I really like the Reef Octopus Protein Skimmers. They work well, break in relatively quickly, and operate very quietly.
This would be a good starting point for you: https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-octopus-classic-150int-6-internal-protein-skimmer.html
Beginner here trying to figure out which Skimmer is recommend for my 90 Gal tank. Budget $300 less. I have a freedom Reef Sump 200 that holds about 35gal water. Thank you!!

I also have a 90 with a similar sump. I’ve had a Deltec, icecap, two bubble kings, a reef octopus 150-sss, two Tunze skimmers, a bubble magus and a NYOS 120.

I’d spend your $300 on a Nyos 120. It’s a brilliantly designed skimmer, it’s whisper quiet and uses very little power. It’s by far my favorite of the skimmers I’ve owned.
