I’m going to use this reactor to run 2 cups of GFO on my system and I’m just curious what type of maxi jet pump would I need to have it tumble but not tumble an insane amount? Maxi jet 1200?

I just got a maxi 900 for the same purpose, same reactor. I haven't set it up yet It was suggested to me to get a DC controllable but it was out of my price range. I also heard the 1200 was pretty noisy. The Utube vids & such suggested between a 400 & 600 , I'll be using a valve to control the flow. A bigger pump can be used for other things so maybe a good choice . Anyway " I think " a 1200 would be plenty.

There is a difference between the marineland maxi-jet and the cobalt aquatics mj1200. I recommend the cobalt, I have a few and they are not noisy and are the perfect all around pump. You can always put a ball valve in to dial it back a bit if necessary.

The 550 has a ball valve on it. I would get the 400 Cobalt pump, check out Dr Foster and Smith they sell the combo kit showing which pump they they recommend.
