Hi I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what sand I should use for a 13.5 fluval Evo tank? I actually bought some "CaribSea Bahama Oolite sand" from a fish store but upon doing some further research a lot of people say its hard for it to settle and may not be a good choice. Also I'm going to have two clownfish and possibly either a goby or some type of invert. Basically Im just asking if I made a good sand choice and if not what should I use? Thank you :)

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

That Oolite sand is very fine grained and has a tendency to blow around the tank, so many would suggest something with a little larger grain sizes. I think the CaribbSea Fiji Pink and Special Grade are popular choices.

If you really want to jump start your tank, consider using aquacultured live sand from Tampa Bay Saltwater. This come right out of the ocean and is loaded with beneficial microbes as well as cool hitchhikers like snails and crabs and other critters:

Good luck!

I used the same sand you bought in my Evo and it’s fine. I don’t have any issues with it blowing around the tank. Good luck
