So I dosed calcium last night and this morning I just finished testing, and it’s at around 470 I’m pretty sure, but definitely not higher than 500. I know that the “safe zone” is around 410-450, but my question is should I try to get it down asap, or should I just let it naturally fall from consumptions. Btw I have 3 LPS, two nems, and a bunch of softies, just to give an idea of how fast it might fall. And it’s 12 gallons of water

There is nothing wrong with 470 calcium but remember calcium and alkalinity are typically dosed proportionally and magnesium depletes at 1/10th the rate of the other 2 so usually water changes suffice for magnesium. 12g is like 9g with rock. Water changes should be all you need with no dosing requirements.

So as long as mg and alkalinity are good just let it fall?

Calcium is good between 400-550 ppm.

Personally I would let it fall naturally. Higher ca will mean a lower alk however it’s not enough to be a concern. Give it a couple days depending on your normal consumption rate and re test.
