I went yesterday to do a little tank maintenance on my 30 gal FOWLR tank. After surviving Harvey and an emergency stand replacement everyone is doing good. Only had one loss and that was my short spine urchin. All my fish are growing and very active. Even my mandarin. I rearranged some rock and noticed these orange things

growing on some of my rock. They open and close and are spreading. Water is very clear and all fish appear very healthy. I did loose one peppermint shrimp and I noticed several aiptasia growing on the glass so I picked up two more. Lol. Anyway I saw these and wondered what the heck. Thanks for any responses. It’s gonna drive me crazy until I know what they are.

Depends on if you like them or not. They will spread on their own and can overgrow the tank. At least that is what i have heard. Not sure what would eat them to keep them under control population wise.

Search here for mushroom control or i am sure someone will offer up some advice. Just be aware that they will spread relatively quickly in your tank.

This makes me happy. I love unexpected surprises. I dose with a tiny bit of phytoplankton about once or twice a month for my feather duster etc so these guys get to eat it as well. Anyone have any idea what type of mushroom theses are?
Thanks

I was planning on getting better lights for a BTA after we got moved back home and I got my tank back but maybe I should look into that sooner. Ang good natural ways to keep them in check? I’m the type that if they aren’t hurting anything I just leave them alone. I like having a more natural aquarium.

That works, then!

One of the best ways to keep them in check is to isolate the rock they're growing on. If you decide you like them, you can grow other colors of 'em on other parts of your 'scape.

Ok guys. My friend who is watching my tank sent me this picture today. No idea what this is. What is it and is it a good thing. My friend said it looks like a pansy flower from the top. I replaced the light a couple months ago so there’s no telling what’s going to pop up.

It looks like it has eyes. I know it doesn’t just thought it was funny when a friend pointed that out.
