What to replace substrate and rocks during copper treatment?

Hey guys,

What can I use as hiding places for the fish during copper treatment?
All ideas would be great please.
For DT turned QT (moving fish to new, larger tank after treatment).
I'm removing the substrates and rocks to nor affect the copper.

Agreed…PVC fittings is king here.

The reason you should not use rocks or sand is twofold.
Firstly you will be killing the bacteria found within which is what provided your tank the ability to remove nitrites and ammonia from the system. This means frequent water changes will probably be necessary.
Secondly, leading on from the first, if you accidentally…down the line, forget what they were used for after removing from that QT tank, you may put them in a display tank into which the rocks and sand may be leaching into your water column. FOWLR this may not be an issue but if you want to keep coral…it could very well kill them.

Final note…not everyone QT’s new comers so a genuine pat on the back for doing it. It’s the best way to ensure you don’t bring disease into your beautiful system you’ve worked so hard on! It is so difficult not to just dump things in the tank through sheer impatience and excitement.
