So hi…
I kept aquariums from my teen years through to a few years ago when I had a motorcycle accident.
At that point - though my injuries were being dealt with - it became very difficult for me to maintain my aquariums so they were closed down.
I have had several surgeries since then and I am now ready to start my journey again.
This thread details my build and I am currently cleaning and starting up so I will update as I go along.
I’ve got some lovely pictures of my very dirty and neglected tank…it is heartbreaking but I know what I had, and I know what I could once again have so I can see it for what it will be.
This is a Red Sea Reefer 250.
On this tank I (will once again) have:
CONTROLLER
TEMPERATURE
FILTRATION
PUMPS/DOSING
ROCKS/SAND
SALT
The breakout I/O for the apex serves several functions with more to come.
Currently it controls the cabinet lights so when I open the doors, the lights inside come on.
It also controls the return pump, heater, skimmer, and any other key items. The driver for these being controlled are two float switches. If the higher switch is activated - there is too much water in the sump for some reason, if the lower activates, there is too little. I don’t want to flood the house or burn out the pump running dry to I added these failsafes and it’s saved me a couple of times.
As I move through the actually build of this tank (back to hopefully it’s former glory or better) I will update the thread with pictures and if anyone is ever interested, I will answer any questions that may arise.
I will also update with some corals/inhabitants as they appear, and also with dosing and feeding products and methods.
