Hi all

Got this clam of a bubby after he's tank started to crash . Any ID for me please

Looks like a derasa clam with all of those stripes on the mantle.
 
After looking at it more, I'm convinced its a derasa. Keep it in the sand bed and make sure its getting plenty of light. You'll also want to feed it a fine filter feeder diet, something like oyster feast or similar.

Derasa, for sure. Probably the hardiest and fastest growing of the usually avalable Tridacnids, Maxima, Crocea, Squamosa, and Derasa. Gigas used to be available from the Wau island breeders and are even faster growers, we grew one to 24 inches here at Trop, And the Waikiki aquarium has grown them even bigger, but haven't seen any for sale in many years.
