What type of snail is this?

Can anyone help me identify what type of snail this is at the top of the picture, with the lighter shell? The fully brown lower and to its left is a hermit.

Two of these came in on with some live rock/Palys/Zoas I got.

Pic of snail is very distant
Need one closer- may be either a nassarius or a whelk. Nassarius is good, a whelk definitely not

Does this help? It's approximately 1/2" long and sticks a "snout" out one end.

Ok, I'll take a better look tonight. It appears Whelks have operculums, I have not noticed any on the 2 in my tank, but I may have missed it.
