Did you overdose the tank while treating for these or do you think you did the treatments too close together? Just curious. Sorry to hear of your loss.

I'm with Stunreefer - if you keep SPS long term, something will go wrong...and most of the time it's a silly mistake on behalf of the human....

I'm still not positive as to what happened, and why.

The redbug treatment was fine. 4 days later I did the FWE and everything seemed great. I did a 40% water change afterwards and put in a ton of carbon. I'd never ran carbon in the tank before though, and I added the phosban, so I think I stripped the nutrients out of the water too quickly. But I lost all my monti's and half my acros.

In Europe for two weeks.

Heatwaves here. Power goes out.

Anti-siphon hole clogged with algae, fails.

Power comes back on... Mag return pump seizes.

Tank bakes, half empty, under 250 MH for 48hrs.

I had these 3 Dwarf lions for over a year in a 29 gal standard tank.

Then i upgraded to a 55gal and after about a month or two of being in the 55 one by one they died, i happened to be on a week vacation (stayed at home) and lost a fish a day.... This is what it looked like, one eye turned white then they died a day or 2 later. I never found out what caused it.

About a year and a half ago, we had a huge ice storm here in Cleveland. Lost power for a week, and of course, by the time we figured out it wasn't going to come back on for a while, all the stores were sold out of generators! Lost 95% of my corals in all 3 tanks as the tanks dropped to 50 degrees and I had to just sit there and watch it happen. Some of the corals had been with me for over 12 years! Miraculously, all but one of my fish survived, and are still with me today:bigsmile: Also, luckily, I had backed up many of my favorite corals by giving frags to friends, so I got many of them back.

Here are some pics of the aftermath...

6-7 years ago when my whole 55 gallon crashed while I was away. I lost everything and thousands of $$.

I have had several common crashes in 30 years, by far the worst was when one of my glass panels in my current 376 gal tank just came apart form the tank and approx 400 gals of salt water came rushing out of the tank, I was at home and it sounded like an explosion.
Needless to say there was water in all four bedrooms, fishes, corals sand and rocks everywhere. The property damage was extensive, fortunately, with the help of at least a dozen reefers that came to the aid I was able to save most of the fishes and some of the corals at least initially, later on, all the fishes were being held at my friends salt water pond and the temperature here in south florida came down very low and trigger all the heaters in the pond to blow the breaker, ironically, all my fishes died then!
I have since rebuild and have added the tank safety in my daily prayers.

I have not had a tank crash, but I did have a disaster yesterday, maybe its a rookie move that I just never knew about but, WARNING dont remove glass from HQI lights....fried sps!

im no sps expert...but my 90 gal literally crashed.....it bottomed out
