Getting ready to upgrade tanks, what would u guys do? A custom tank and custom sump? Or buy a deep blue rimless with a nice sump. Have all equipment for new tank just trying to think what I should do. Please give advice it going to be a display. About 90 gallons or under.

With that budget I would go with a 300 myself. lol

Don't have that much room. Wish I could do a 300 gallon.

If you can find a custom tank and custom sump for 1k, I'll be impressed. Custom work costs lots of moolah. I do love the deep blue rimless tanks. Go shallow! Shallow reefs are very cool!

Deep Blue Rimless w/ a nice sump. Do a search, you can probably get a good one with a stand used and still have money to get some nice lights like AI Hydra's or AI Vegas.

I guess I should qualify my statement...a large-ish custom tank will be well over 1k...don't know what a smallish tank would cost.

You could do all sorts of things....add an apex to an existing setup, new lights, new tank...

One thing about this hobby is that it can require a lot of "work" with dosing, water changes, etc. Something like an automatic dosing system or a controller can help minimize the work and leave more time for "enjoyment."

On a separate note, if you like wrasse steer clear of the shallow rimless tanks. I've regretfully had a lot of inadvertent suicides resulting from this.

Whatever you choose to do plan it out well and you'll be happy :D

I have full apex already , radion lights , 2 mp10 , cad light skimmer , and ato. I have a shallow rimless now but want more of a display then a frag tank look...

Got ya..then go deep dimensions maybe?

Shoot, $1k does not go very far in this hobby. I have spent that in the last month and still have my same old 65g...lol. But my new lights look great and I am stoked about my Apex getting here next week.

Yeah that's why I already bought everything but the tank and sump.

So you have everything but tank, stand and sump? I'd just buy the materials and build it myself, then use all the left over money on livestock :)

i would use it to pay soem money back to my girlfriend :P hahah. then it would put me at 4,000$ i owe her after the 1k Is given to her.

Happy I don't owe my lady any money:).. options so far deep blue rimless 65 gallon and stand for around 800. Or a DSA 65 GALLON rimless with stand 800. Reef savvy. Thinks how u spell just tank with ghost overflow around 900 to 1000. Or wait for reefapalooza see if any deals on complete set ups.

Reef savvy quoted me $1700 for a custom 90. I am in so cal and had Advance Aqua Tanks aka Viso build mine. My tank was just under $800. 1k doesn't go very far. Like you I already had all the expensive stuff. My buget for this build has been about double what I though it would be. Get A nice custom with the 1k and DIY stand and sump. You might get a great deal at reefapalooza If I lived in florida thats what id do.
