Hi guys. I've had this green torch for about 2 months. It's been doing great since the beginning and even started to split off another head. As the head gets more pronounced tho, the flesh band around the torch started receding and it's closing up for longer and longer each day. It's mostly closed over night(i can see the flesh is connected all the way across the new head now) but opens up fully around 9am until about 5pm(my wife says it's still open when she gets home) but starts closing again by 5:30 when I get back from work. Is this normal for a torch?

Params are:
Alk 8.9
Cal 450
Mg 1325
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate between 9 and 11
Phos bouncing from .02 to .06

Here's the best pic of the flesh band i could get.

Thanks
Leo

What does your lighting and flow look like? Any other coral in your tank not doing well?

They tend to look and act wonky until split is complete, perfectly normal.

Yes. Normal for torches and hammers to be closed up during the splitting provided. Shrunk fleshband, reduced extension, even “hibernating” at night

All common things I’ve seen as they split. When the split is complete, things return to normal. I wouldn’t move it. But be sure to feed during the day during a period of reduced flow.

Awesome! Thanks for the replies, I had read they act strange, but it makes me feel so much better that it's "normal" strange and not "I'm killing it" strange.

My lighting is 3 radion xr15 g6 blue. 3.5hr ramp up from 30% to 65% more whites than blues, 4.5hrs at 65% mostly blues then 3.5hrs ramp down back to 30.
My other 2 torches seem happy and fully extended during the day. They close up some at night but not more than the green did in the beginning. My gold torch has been struggling since the beginning. Last week, i noticed the back was covered in cyano. I cleaned it off and moved it into slightly higher flow(it was up closer to the back arch), but I think it was too little too late. It's only gotten worse over the last week.

Here's a video of the flow. Lights just came on about an hour ago, so I turned them up for the video.
