I switched about 10 years ago to Tropic Marin Pro and have never looked back. I started with Instant Ocean and Red Sea Blue. When I started diving into Acro's I switched to Red Sea Pro and then onto ESV Bionic.

The calcium is excessively high at 550. Alk is at 7 to 9 which is good but calcium is better at 440 to 480. I mixed 1 part kent marine to 3 parts red sea pro
Hmm, ok. I'm getting my first tank soon and my LFS is setting it up with Kent Marine since that's what they use (they won't set it up with any other brand). Is it common to start out with one brand of salt and the change out to another brand though water changes?

Yes. I'm new too but I started with tropic marin pro reef to reef crystals to Kent's marine to red sea pro to what I'm using now red sea pro and Kent's. Tropic Marine was the best but so expensive. For the price of 32g of tropic marin I was able to buy 55g of red sea and a bit more

I've had success with what I'm using but do some research into different salt mixes to see what the best for you would be
