Hey all, I am looking to add a Copperband butterfly to my 180gal. I am going to send him through QT to get him treated as a precaution and get him eating well before he's added. I have absolutely no experience with this fish and know they can get harassed fairly easy. I am just wondering my best bet from those who have added them into an established tank. I am thinking at night about 5-10 minutes after all the fish have eaten than turning lights completely off.

Current stock list that I am thinking would cause trouble: -1 Hippo at 6", 1 Achilles at 5", 1 Tomini at 4". Than other larger fish are the 2 blue throat triggers both at about 3-4", Magnificent fox face at 7". Than I have the 12 anthias, 2 chromis.

Your gonna have a rough going with that group. Even if they allow him without a severe beating feeding is gonna be tough. Cb's are very slow and deliberate feeders and getting enough food to him without everyone else gobbling it up first will be difficult. If you can train him to eat from your fingers in QT it helps a lot bring able to control how fast the other fish get all the food, especially while adapting to tank living.

he well wipe out the feather duster fast and pods well more than likely need to add pods in the long run or if you have a well seeded fuge you maybe OK well be hard to get them to eat normal food probably not gonna happen with all the bigger faster fish in the tank

Thanks for the replies, I guess we will see how it goes. Perhaps I will make an acclimation box for him to start out in.
