Hello everyone

I am considering to have a try at a copperband butterfly.

I have a 90g display with some smaller fish and a juvenile tomini and foxface.

I have a small 10g underneath my display, which will be used as frag tank at some point but is now empty.

Would the 10g be too small to make as a shortterm observation tank where I make sure it eats to then transfer it to my display.

I will make sure it eats at the store and is healthy

I just lost my copperband after 10 years. I consider that a successful span and I'll give you the rundown on what I did.

I did not isolate or observe. This is a highly stressful thing for a CBB, instead I added it after observing it eating both brine and PE mysis at the store. I added it before anything big or territorial and after the tank had been running for 6 months. This ensured a quiet tank with 'dither' fish to give it confidence and time to browse living food in the tank.

I had (and still do) aptasia, I used to put rocks into my sump to ensure they became covered in them and tiny feather duster type worms for the CBB to then snack on every couple of weeks when I put them into the main tank.

I also had success taking frozen raw shrimp, hammering it with a steak hammer and putting it into a 'two little fishes' algae feeder.

I also advise just avoiding zebrasoma tangs altogether. I added mine (a purple) nearly 3 years later and tiny, it still grew up to give the CBB grief (although the achilles now keeps the purple under very close control. The body shape is too similar imo and if you get conflict, that's a one way aggression...
