When non-reefers give backhanded compliments

Lyretail anthias, one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE dream fish, were excitedly added to my QT tank last week.

I enthusiastically told my brother about how they were my dream fish! I finally got them!

He said they looked nice! “Are they goldfish?”


He said they looked like salmon.


SALMON!?? GOLDFISH?!?

I was mortified.

My mom called them goldfish looking

They are not wrong imo.

Those not in the hobby are not influenced by bias. They may like something like Xenia or GSP, etc over sps because bias has not made them feel one is inferior than the other.

True... I mean a chalk bass... just looks like a weird colored bass :D

They aren’t wrong; they look similar to goldfish lol.

I wish anthias were less expensive. Why do they cost so much in the first place?
