Well with all the info I may wait longer than 6 months to get one. I don't want to get a nem and then have it die on me bc of my own stupidity and rushing. Tha KS again for all the help!

There will be no problem with your load, but I have 15 clown, 1 foxface, 3 goby, 3 cleaner shrimps, and 20-21 nemsz thats why I use sock, also it help me to reduce the work for cleaning sump later on. I dont want too much debris sitting on bottom of the sump-> nitrate factory

6 month will help with stable parameter, but if debris sit on the bottom of the sump, the longer it stay there, the more Nitrate it will release into the water. For a short period, it would be okay, but for a long run, IMO sock would help alot in reducing the nitrate and phosphate.

I don't see it that way. The debris sit's on the bottom of the sump undisturbed, until vacuumed up. With a sock water is constantly flowing through the debris releasing toxins. I don't think one way is better than the other, but i don't like changing socks every 3 days and cleaning them. Vacuuming the sump at water change time is easy for me. To each their own. Stability is the key and the only way to get there is going through all the algae cycles and having the proper bacteria built up.
