Distractions in QT?

I have a 2" baby Dussimieri in a 30 gal quarantine. 3 chromis and a Dracula gobi plus a few snails and hermits. My 350 gal will be up and cycled by year end. My question is.. the QT tank is almost too clean. No algae, no water quality issues, no nothing... The tang is a basket-case however. Goes crazy anytime I walk into the room (my office), tries to threaten me. Protects all the other fish like nothing I have ever seen. Rips apart nori on the clip like Godzilla. Have had lots of acan tangs, not one this small however. And never one this nuts. I am debating on adding a few more fish.. Crazy? Distraction might make him chill out? Thinking 2 clowns and a juvie angel. All into big tank inside of 6 mo. the gobi and chromis will be lifelong in QT tank. Appreciate all input. Regardless of how negative.

So you've got five fish in a 30g right now, including the tang? Personally, I wouldn't add anything else. Six months is a looong time for them to stay in there before moving to the larger tank.

Also, how will it work if the goby and chromis stay in the QT long term? Do you medicate the tank at all? If so, I wouldn't want to run them through meds every time you add new fish.

Thanks for the reply. I don't plan to medicate unless absolutely necessary. Want to use for 1 mo observation on new inhabitants. For coral and fish.

I completely agree regarding bio load. Was never a thought to add more until recently. The tang is manic however so open to ideas.

Chromis and gobi to keep the QT "alive and well" over the next several years until big tank is stable.

I just want to note that with corals you'd need to keep the tank fallow if you want to be sure they're safe to add after a month of observation. Basically, you'd be waiting for any parasites to complete their life cycle without fish present.

Unless your plan is to observe the chromis and goby in there to see if they show any signs of illness? The only thing is, they're fairly light colored fish, so you could easily miss those first few ich trophonts, for example.

Sorry, I think that would be a bad a bad plan.
I'm seeing a display tank, not a quarantine tank.
QT tanks don't typically have live sand and rock since both would be nuked if/when you needed to use meds.
What if one of these fish gets sick or the new additions come in sick?
Are you prepared to use meds in this tank?

QT tanks are mostly kept bare bottom so that they can be cleaned and sterilized and medicated easily.

I'd set up a real QT tank and put the new fish in there before I added more to that 30G display tank.

Totally agree. I guess the premise was always a nice small tank that I could accept blowing up if I added something sick by mistake. I try to be very careful of anything new and only deal with a handful of local/online suppliers.

I am going to pass on adding new fish.

Instead leaving light fixture off for at least a week. Ambient and room lighting only. Best thing I can think of.
