when to ICP test

If you want to know how your tank is running then I would do it before a water change. You could also do an ICP test of freshly mixed saltwater to get an idea of where the elemental content is.

Well when I did my first Triton ICP test a few weeks ago (after 2 1/2 years) I did it before a water change so I could see how the parameters were.

But just thinking about it, I’m not sure it matters because if you take a sample and then send it off, and then do a water change, the parameters will have changed slightly anyway so they won’t exactly match the results you get back

I think anyway, if you see what I mean! Lol

I definitely understand what you mean. My thinking is depending on how large the water change is, it might dilute readings of parameters that are off.
