Hey there Guys!

I'm a reefer from Portugal and fairly new to the hobby.

I've kept a nano for a while and then made an upgrade for a 550lt tank.

My goal is to keep a mixed reef with sps and for that reason I'm thinking into adopting the balling method.

I do 15% water changes every 2 weeks and my parameters are the following (before the change):

PO4-0.05
Kh- 7.9
Mg- 1365
Ca- 430
No3 3-5
Ph- 8.3
Salinity 35ppt

I have some questions if you guys could help me:

-When Should I start balling?

-Thinking buying a Kh controller and dosing for the other parameters or should i only dose kh without the controller?

As soon as the alkalinity falls below your target level is a good time to start alkalinity and calcium supplementation, regardless of the method chosen. :)

Thank you for your reply!

I was aiming for 8-8.5 Kh! Having a Kh controller will ease my mind and help stabilise the parameter trough the day?

If you want to go that route, it is fine, but at least initially, other types of dosing also work very well. You demand must be pretty low at the moment.
