Where to get extra shells for Hermit Crabs?

Hi guys, I’ve got some hermit crabs and would like to know where is the best place to get some extra shells? Can I buy them online? Any suggestion?

I dont put hermits in my tank anymore, but when I did, I found all the shells I ever needed at Hobby Lobby. I soaked them in some tank water for a few days just to make sure they were ok. Never had any issues other than Hermits being total a holes.

I got mine from some hobby store and I gave them a bleach soak, then a regular water soak and let them air out for a couple. The bleach was more for piece of mind rather than actually needed

I've not bought snail shells from them, but I've bought other things from Reefcleaners. Always been very happy with my purchase.

I'll add my vote for Hobby Lobby or Michael's. You can get a 1lb bag of random shells for about $8 - $10, enough to last you (and your hermits) for years.

*other r2r member soaked them in tank water for a few days and others did a bleach soak and rinsed well and added to tank.*
If you go this way make sure they arnt painted.

Hey on of my hermit crabs need a new shell and is hiding a lot, but any shells would take almost a month to access. Is there any way I can make the time ok? Will the hermit be ok?

I purchased some from indo pacific farms for a hermit crab that I have had for about 4 years. I love my hermit crab, crab haters! I would also try your local pet store to see if they have them or maybe some replacement shells for terrestrial hermit crabs.

Thank you for suggesting Reefcleaners. They had the shells and we got a cleanup crew for the size tank we needed.

Mine just kill? or wait for snails to die. This may sound bad, but I have a loaded population of breeding Trochus snails and it’s just the circle of life. Some of them die from time to time and my hermits take advantage when it’s time to upgrade. I’m waiting for a Halloween hermit to kill a conch, I wish the conchs would breed too
