I've been reefing for 9 months, and seen some ups and downs. I've learned the benefits of automation as I have added light schedules, ATO, and auto feeders. Now I am seeing some coral degradation, which I suspect is most likely related to one or more of my levels of calcium (250), pH (8.0), and Nitrates (40). I've done manual methods for maintaining these, which are highly subject to keeping up with regular maintenance, but I like to have machines do the work for me and not let these fall to the levels you see above in the first place.
So where should I start in order to take my tank to the next level? I want ease of use and stability. I'm currently doing all tests by hand with API (pH/NH3/NO2/NO3) and Red Sea (Ca/Mg/KH) test kits. I believe that Ca and pH are my immediate concerns.
I'm sure someone has a link handy to point to the right place to get started with reactors, kalkwasser, or whatever, but I'm old and need info easy to digest. So how can you quickly get me up and running? Go!
