Carbon or purigen?
Phosguard or 2 little fishies ferric oxide?
What are your favorite medias to use in your reef tank?

Because you control its generation on demand, ozone has the extra benefit of never running out and not having yet another consumable item to add to your bill each month like other media options.

I prefer carbon over purigen if I had to choose between the two. BRS ROX 0.8 is the best brand of carbon IMO.

For phosphate, I prefer granular ferric oxide (GFO) over phosguard. GFO, like what your mentioned brand uses, is iron-based. Phosguard is aluminum oxide, and that will release aluminum pollutants that can harm leather corals and cause an aluminum buildup.

I actually do not like ozone. I have it, but I believe my corals suffer every time I use it.

Perhaps you are using too much, which can be easy to do. It is important to use an ORP measurement to control the amount of ozone added. You want to shoot for an elevated ORP but not unnaturally high ORP. 350-400ish keeps the water crystal clear without negative effects. With a hobby sized Ozotech Posiden 200 ozone generator, it is actually pretty hard to overdo it.

Nope. I use ozotech at the lowest setting for only several hours. I have ORP monitored. I find many of my Goniopora retract when I use it. I tried several times. I use lots of carbon on the effluent.

Maybe it’s a coincidence? I keep taking breaks and trying again. At this point, I don’t want to use it anymore.

See I like gfo better and purigen seems to work well for getting rid of green slime it does a really good job and have never had issues with HLLE with tangs using purigen
