My tank, sitting in the living room, is visible from the recliner in 3 year old son's room. During his bedtime routine, he always wants to watch the fish for a bit while we snuggle and he winds down. I asked him a couple times which fish was his favorite and that morphed into him asking me "Which fish is best?"

So I would like to in turn ask you all here that very same question. Which fish is best, and how would you explain why to a 3 year old :)

Bonus points if you add a picture!

I go back and forth between favorites. One day I will say a clown because it is something everyone has to have. Another day, it might be the emperor angel or the flame angel because I love how they look. Or it is a blenny, because they are so fascinating with out they interact with everything.

Those angels are really pretty fish. Begs the question though, best, but in what regard? Just because they are your favorite and you like them or best because they are super awesome in some way shape or form, like blennies with personality AND clean up bennifits or clowns that like to bite and be jerks but make nems way more fun to watch?

I'd say it depends on tank size as well.. Love wrasses (certain ones) they usually out and about moving and groovin... but yes also clowns.. My royal gramma stays out moving but if I get too close to tank hides for a bit.. Other than that my Hector Goby just loves throwing sand all over everything... So there's that lol... depends on tank size though for sure.

Jawfish. They create their own house based on available rocks and rubble. Will even construct a front door that they close at night, and open in the morning. Interact interestingly with humans and tank inhabitants. Generally peaceful, if given a little space. Most look either beautiful or so ugly they are cute.

Every one loves my tangs because they swarm to the glass any time they see a human. Had a young visitor the other day that said she was having a conversation with my convict because the fish was cleaning the glasses in front of her and she pretended the fish was speaking. Takes a large tank tho lol.

Flame Angels aren't that big. Mine was about 4 inches (although they can get to 5 or 6 inches depending). I think they're beautiful. And thats about it. I also dig Maroon Clowns but they tend to live up to their scientific name.......Harshionas Satanicus. They bite.

Always wanted a jawfish, i think they are fascinating to watch. Had a diamond watchman goby, until my bristletooth tang decided they couldn't be friends anymore. Which one in particular, or just jawfish in general?

That is awesome! Kids interactions with the tank are the best!

Bruh, that was the first fish Oliver learned how to say and now we have a game where we go looking for the hawkfish. Now I have a dilemma because my spotted hawkfish is a terrible creature that I want to rehome and he loves him so much so I cant.....

Easy solution, get him a little 30-40 gallon tank for Oliver's room...

Ever grilled it with mahi-mahi? You end up with ahi-mahi, a nice blend of red and white :)
Now that is a combo I would be curious to try. I still to this day have never tried Ahi before

I may have to. Hes got my exquisite wrasse and my blenny afraid to swim out in the open as he'll charge em. I do have a biocube... but its already established and idk if i want him in there 😂

Your answers will vary with preferences. Im a tang person. Some like wrasses and others like clowns and gobies. Compatibility and Future stocking will best determine
