Eibli Angel…….
Although I too, am a tang guy, and I love any flame angel fish ( Like Gumby)

However, as we all know, this hobby is all consuming and takes over a portion of our life, and it helps to have a supportive spouse/partner . My wife fell in love with the Eibli angel in the store.

So that 1 Eibli keeps her happy, and i’m free to invest as much as I want time wise in the hobby he’s a beautiful fish, even though my Zoas strongly disagree. I don’t know if you’re son Will appreciate that but he will one day. Lol

Love Jawfish very much and they are great if you got the place for there needs and plenty of substrate, lids a must. Chalk bass in my opinion are great fish. Shy at first, but will warm up to you quickly, swim around freely in blue light and eventually the whole tank. Mine also loves to pose and seek my attention when near by.

I'd say it depends on tank size as well.. Love wrasses (certain ones) they usually out and about moving and groovin... but yes also clowns.. My royal gramma stays out moving but if I get too close to tank hides for a bit.. Other than that my Hector Goby just loves throwing sand all over everything... So there's that lol... depends on tank size though for sure.
My Australian Stipey is pretty, very active, and full of personality.

I think anyone would find it hard to argue against clownfish and yellow watchmen gobies. Such personaity – such faces!

Of course, there are no wrong answers. :)

Definitely an underrated fish. I’ve got one that’s 13 years old in my tank not bright like the yellow tang not striking like the purple tang or cool looking like a gem Tang just does his job in the tank

My tank, sitting in the living room, is visible from the recliner in 3 year old son's room. During his bedtime routine, he always wants to watch the fish for a bit while we snuggle and he winds down. I asked him a couple times which fish was his favorite and that morphed into him asking me "Which fish is best?"

So I would like to in turn ask you all here that very same question. Which fish is best, and how would you explain why to a 3 year old :)

Bonus points if you add a picture!

Most of the time, his is "Hawkfish".
I really don't think there's a best fish. My wife and I really like puffers but unless I set up a second tank we certainly cannot have one.

My favorite in my tank is the desjardini tang.

They really are. Super awesome personalities, hard workers, and a very quiet and subtle dignified beauty. That is a very good looking scopas!
