I use a Motorola baby monitor. Remote access through an app (Hubble), pan, zoom, tilt, notifications, etc. think we paid $300 for it, but it was purchased for another reason and I steal it when going out of town. I use it mainly to monitor sump water level so I know my ATO is working.

I use a Foscam FI9831P. It has a feature that allows you to do motion detection alarm for different areas of the field of view. I use this to "watch" for bubbles exiting my return pump. This tells me that my top-off system is not feeding water, or there is something else wrong. When bubbles shoot across those two boxes shaded in red, I get a message on my phone and I can check in visually through the camera.

Cool idea but what happens when a fish swims by?

You can adjust the motion sensitivity. On mine, if the fish is very close, it triggers. I get about 3-6 false alarms (with nice fish close-up pics and vids) each week.

What sets the motion detection off the most is when I stick my arm in the tank on that side of it and also restating my return pump after feeding.

Zmodo camera from Amazon for $40, have had it for awhile now and love it. You can listen to it (I do in case overflow sensor goes off). You can talk through it too if your in to talking to your fish lol. Good quality too. Easy to set up and connect with phone, highly recommend.

I just purchased Amcrest 1080. Easy set up love the tilt, pan, zoom, night IR vision. Plus it has microphone and speaker. Right now Im viewing through Amcrest app. Does anyone have detailed instructions how to view Amcrest in Apex? I also bought 2 cameras (one for tank, one for sump). Thanks !

I was unable to get a similar Amcrest camera to work. Hope someone has the answer. Doing a search on the Neptune Apex forum will give you some suggestions, but I couldn't get them to work.

I would be careful with cameras with IR illuminators built in as liquid level sensors use IR light to detect water proximity to the sensor. An IR illuminator may saturate the sensor and give false water level readings. Could cause an ATO to fail. Also, fish have no eyelids and IR would not produce a blinking response even if they did. I install CCTV equipment for a living and we are always told not to look into IR illuminators directly. I wouldn't shine those at my fish personnaly. It can damage their little eyes.

I've tried unsuccessfully to add both of these IP cameras to the APEX Fusion interface:
Amcrest ProHD Shield 960P
Wansview 1080P

I am going to try the Amcrest pro HD IP2M-841. I liked the idea of being able to talk someone through a situation if one arises and I'm not available run home which happens a lot.....the not being home not the tank issues.
