Been looking at the new generation gyre water pumps, I have a standard 150 gal tank, mostly sps with a few Lps in the mix. Which model gyre would you guys recommend for a tank like mine ??

I like the 250 as it’s not much more cost wise and has almost double the flow of the 230. And if you want 2 of them you don’t need a second power supply like the 280. Plus 280 didn’t seam to have that much more flow then the 250 anyways.

I would go with 2 250

I was getting ready to type basically the same thing. At 5,300 GPH that would give you around 30 times turnover in the tank. Plus, as just mentioned, it's easy to add another one if needed.

Two 250’s! In what size tank? Are you suggesting running them on opposing sides and cycles? I am looking into this myself.

Eddie, as I was told if you get the Gyre 250, the new controller will allow you to run both pumps. The older 150 and the new 250.
I am leaning toward buying a 250, and running the two gyres on opposite schedules across each other in the tank. I have a 6’ 125 mixed reef with some acros near the direct flow of the gyre.

Yes the new controller will allow you to control a 250 and a 150. That's what I do on my 6' 180g DT.

I have two 250's in a 120....

Yes, the new controller will do the older 150 and the new 250. It's what I use on my 120g and it's working great.

Yes I was referring to the gyre 250. I had 1 in my 65g 3ft but didn’t like only having the flow go one way so added a second. Mine is a sps dominant tank and they love it
