Looking to get a wavemaker/gyre for my nuvo 25 lagoon and want opinions. Its a planned softie/lps tank. My 3 very different price point options are:

Hygger 12 Gyre - I read a gyre might be a good idea for this tank and its cheap (50). Also learned in the past you get what you pay for so not crazy about it.

Nero 3 - It compact and a well known brand. I have seen some quaility post pop up though (190)

MP 10 - I found a used MP10 in my area for 220, not sure if that is a good deal as I have never owned one in the past. I liked the idea of the cord outside the tank.

Unfourtnantly nothing is on sale right now :-(.

What would you do? Any other options I should consider?

I ran the Nero 3 on a softie dominant Nuvo 20 and was very pleased. Here is a quick video of it. I did ran an MP10 too.

I tried a gyre, believe it was the icecap 1k but was too strong for this tank.

I’m in the process of setting up the same tank Nuvo 25 and will likely run MP10s. The plan is for it to be SPS dominant. I do like the no cables, less heat, and ease of cleaning them.

So would you recommend the nero 3 for my situation?

I think two Nero 3's would be plenty for your application. I have two on my Nuvo 20 build intended to be SPS dominant, and can only run them at a max of about 55% before it starts rescaping my sandbed.

Running the hygger 12w vertically in a waterbox 25g peninsula for 2 months so far. I have it running at only 25% random flow setting, and that includes a nem guard from Etsy on it reducing flow, so it seems like it has enough power to move water in a 25g. Unsure about longevity, so far. It does give a nice flow around the tank, but gives a bit low on the far end of the tank (when the circular flow gets back to the gyre). Probably same problem with any single powerhead, though.
