Just remember a skimmer at best will only remove 30% of doc.

Ozone and carbon combined can remove up to 70%

With both you can remove 100% of doc, but that still leaves out particulate organics

Either both I am familiar .. I prefer direct blow out design.. currently using bubble magus curve 9 for my 270liter sps dorminant tank + yellow tang, fox face, bluestone emperor, naso , Benny, 2 wrasse .. when I at home , I feed more than 5 times a day.. nitrate and phosphate non-detect.

I always concern over skim .... Is that good to remove 100% DOC?

Like the tank. Not bad looking and your system definitely runs well.

I would recommend the ice cap brand of skimmers. I have been running one on my tank for the last six months. It works great, It skims very well. As far as noise from the skimmer goes it's very quiet. I have to open the cabinet door to hear it. I think the water comming from the main display is louder. This skimmer is very well built you can't go wrong with it, if I build another tank in the future I will definitely use a ice cap skimmer.

Thank you , it is relatively new tank - just past 6 months.. FYI , when I use redsea amino acid , I always need to turn off my PS but not seachem and aquaforest..

I'd get the reef octopus, but with a newer pump, either the bubble blaster or new varios DC pump. Their support is second to none, and they will have parts and upgrades over the years as the technology changes. I have a 150 int that I just upgraded the pump to a new DC varios 2 on my 110 gallon. Better to feed heavily and over skim than worry about extra feeding. The gate valve is easy to adjust and cleaning is a breeze.

Lots of great info for sure. I myself have used octopus 200 classic extreme with old psk2500. Switched it out to psk1000 but after 3 years pump has quit. Having trouble buying another aquatrance pump for it as the old psk sucked bad. Bubble blaster was better but still had some issues. I am one that like to take pump out ever couple months and clean where body would go 6 months more. How is the new VarioS pumps? How big pain is it to clean space saver unit of octopus?

The new VarioS pump is great, it doesn't make a ton of sense to have a DC pump on a skimmer, as you'll always be running it at full tilt; however it's been great so far compared to the PSK. The slow start up and the external control (power button) are my favorite features. Stupid features, but I use the power button every day. I would say every few months taking the skimmer out completely and running it in a 5 gallon bucket with vinegar is ideal, however larger skimmers aren't going to fit. If I take the 150-INT apart the body and pump both fit separately.

I have a Deltec 1351 on my Reefer 170 and am very happy with it.

I tried Skimz, Tunze, Aquamaxx, and Lifefreef before I settled on the Deltec. My close second was the Lifereef, but it just took up too much real estate in the sump.

Thanks for ur input for sure. I like the idea of a dc pump on skimmer as way to ramp down when doing a feed and not have to totally turn it off and the slow start is also really nice. Yeah stupid psk sucked bad. Just hard for me go and buy another Oct 200 when already have body but is like +5 years old. Coralvue said the varios wouldn't fit it being so old and would have to go with aquatrance pump but seems instead of moving forward with time it stuck in past. By chance anyone running there varios off a controller?

Im using for a few years aquatrance pumps, no one complain...the new version are really good performance, in my opinion better than sicce pumps a lot complain with this stupid " best" italian made....crap pumps in my own experince...aquatrance new version are really good for me...and reef octopus really good skimmers , quality-price-performance and warranty...i try a lot skimmers brand " esshops, bubble magus, tunze, asm...i prefer reef octopus....for sure out there we can find better than this...but for double or triple money i dont think i get back double or triple performance and efficiency in my collection cup...maybe deltec, bubble king and others be better...but im happy with reef octopus

deltec all the way i have used most of the skimmers out there and deltec pulls the most waste that i have seen in a skimmer but they are not the cheapest option my any means.
