Hello everyone,

I currently have a Reef Octopus classic 110 on my 55 gallon with 20 gallon sump and 20 gallon fuge and it is pulling out some nasty skimmate. I love it.

However, I am picking up a 125 gallon this week and it has a 40 gallon sump with it. I might also keep the 20 Fuge with it as well. So total volume would be maybe 185 gallons give or take.

I dont think the 110 will cut it with this amount of volume. I am thinking of upgrading to the classic 152 or 202.

What do you think?

That should work ! It’s all tied to your budget !
You can also look into the SRO series which have been quite amazing in its class .

Regards,
Abhishek

I currently run the 150 on my 180 total volume. Works, but the 202 may be better suited down the road.
I have always heard it isnt such a good thing to go too big as I will pull too many nutrients. I can swing the 202 but I dont want to go overkill. If the 152 would be sufficient then that is what I would like to shoot for.

That is unless I will be fine with the 110?

You may be okay at first with the 110, but you will need to go bigger at some point.

Ok. I plan on going heavy on SPS with this one. Do you think the 150 or 202 would be better? I would rather break the bank now then down the road. Lol

I got the 200 int on a 160 total volume very pleased.... pulls black gunk.

I dont think i can get away with the sump space on my current setup. I see it is 14.6" x 10.25". The chamber is about 12" width and 11.5" length. Diagonally the chamber am around 16". I dont know if it will fit?

What about this one? It is a Coral Vue model but looks the same and cheaper.

Yeah. It’s a large foot print. But I do like it and the price is very reasonable. Good luck!

Actually I upgraded sumps to have a fuge. Because the “fuge” section of the last sump was all protein skimmer, hence why I went with a 75gallon tank as the sump.
