+1 for Fusion 360.
The learning curve wasn't too bad, what I learned can be used for 3D printing and CNC cutting, it is free, runs on macs, has easy online sharing and backup, designs are available on the phone with A360, it is parametric which allows for changing imensions by simply changing parameters, etc, etc.

I learned Skethup before I found Fusion and they are in different leagues.

Didn't know about this....pretty cool. Basically if you're "non-Pro" it's perennially free.

So which do you think is better to start learning. Fusion or sketchup?

Something easy to use and a very low learning curve, if your stand is what you're planning right now. I use this for planning my stands:
MAYCAD (relatively simple type of software)
http://www.may-cad.org/en/p1.htm

Helps me with measurements as my stands tend to be a little more complex than just 4 legs and a top.

https://www.tinkercad.com

Also

https://www.vectary.com

Both look to be very easy, going to try them and see for my build. Seems to be very simple.

Sketchup has been around longer. I also signed up for - there are more aquarium builds shared on Sketchup than Tinkercad, and only a canopy on Vectary.
Both these new seem easier on the get-go than sketchup.
