Hey everyone, I really want to get a starfish for my tank. It is a 90 g, peaceful community/reef. Which starfish would work in this environment? I need to know that my snails, and all other inverts are safe, as well as my fish and any coral I get. If they simply can not coexist in my tank, I understand, but I do want to try, if possible.

It's not usually a problem with them coexisting, they commonly starve unless you regularly spotfeed them and some are not likely to do well even then. Go for a serpent Star or brittle star.

Yeah, the safest stars that won't starve in our tanks are Aquilonastra stars (known in the hobby as Asterina stars; some species may eat corals, especially zoas, but a lot of people don't have any issues with them), and brittle/serpent stars (Ophiuroids; they're not true starfish).

Brittle/Serpent stars would be my recommendation, but you do want to avoid the Green Serpent Star, Ophiarachna incrassata, as it's a known predator.
