White Film on the fins and tail of Orchid Dottyback

Hi Everyone,

I've been noticing a strange white film thats been developing on the fins and tail of my Orchid Dottyback that's been in my Tank for about 2 weeks now. This doesn't appear on any of my other fish.

See image below. Any idea what this is?

White filmy areas should be viewed with great suspicion. This can often indicate the beginning of a bacterial infection like fin and tail rot on your fish.

There are a variety of antibiotic treatments to consider. Also you should consider boosting the fish's immune system. New fish have been under tremendous stress. In addition to high quality food and some vitamins, adding Beta Glucan to the food can give your fish a serious boost to its immune system. Heck, my wife and I take BG too.
