White glob on GSP...Remove It???

This has been growing over the last few weeks. When the GSPs are closed, this is what I see, any help on what it is, and if should I remove it? (20gal Innovative Marine All In One)

Sponge and given the location, yes it should be removed or it will likely smother the GSP.
